Bethan is an avid traveler and lover of music and feels very strongly that music is an incredible gift that should be shared with children as early as possible! Born in England but having lived in 3 different countries, Bethan has since relocated to Portland, Oregon. She started music lessons at the age of 7, which quickly spurred on my desire to teach piano to others. While studying with the acclaimed international pianist Michael Harvey in London, Bethan eventually started to teach piano privately to students at school and from my home as I worked towards my diploma in teaching music from the Royal School of Music in London. When not teaching, she loves hiking with her husband, snuggling with her dog, or planning her next home decoration project!

What is your number one goal when teaching?
I want every student to walk out of their class knowing exactly what they should practice and why! The feeling of coming out of a piano lesson, which should be a positive and enjoyable experience, without a clear direction of what one should be doing afterward is disheartening. I want my students to practice with purpose, because in this way they can reach their full musical potential and clearly understand their goals.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? Why?
Stop time! Then I could have all the hours in the day to accomplish everything I could possibly want!
If you could only eat one type food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Penne alla vodka is the best pasta dish in the world, which I could eat until I die.
